Another video of Alpe Ricka. I think the video quality is a bit bad with the picture quality being a bit "shaky" like the camera is trying to compensate for something. Sorry about that. I think is was my new waterproof camera but I can't say for sure. The replacement one records at a much smoother rate.
Today is a travel day back home. Almost 24 hours long and I stay in Monday the entire time. Interesting.
Two shorter videos from Monterosa, part of lower Jolanda and Moos pistes. The lower part of Moos was sporty, and involved some route finding over the mud and rocks. At the very end of my stay I had to take off my skis and walk about 50 meters over mud and rocks. Fun fun.
Sort of shaky video quality with this second video. I think I was using one of my crappier cameras.
Today is a travel day: first a taxi from Flims to Ilanz, then a train from Ilanz to Visp, then a bus from Visp to Saas Fee. Promises to be interesting. In honor of the travel day, here is a "travel" video of a gondola ride.
Working my way back to Stafal from Champoluc area. Started at top of Sarezza and down Contenery Piste. A nice piste but fairly steep right off the bat (35 degrees at least) with no easy way down or alternate route. Not really appropriate for intermediates although the rest of the piste would be an intermediate joy.
More ski videos from Monterosa Ski. I will probably post several of these on the days I assume I will be too busy to post anything from Switzerland or too tired. Enjoy.
Skiing down from top of Seehorn down to Alpe Ricka piste. Wonderful corn snow. Only a few days later Alpe Ricka was mud and rocks.
Short video of connecting piste from top of one chair over to gondolas. Really sticky snow so you had to look for the shaded areas and ski on the firmer ice. This would suck balls in deeper snow or if you had the wrong wax.
Skiing off the Indren tram and enjoying the views. Bit longer video but still informative. There are a series of bamboo poles and markers marking the main off-piste route down but I still wouldn't want to be here in bad weather. The main route went left down through a couloir but I went right. Mistake. Given the warmer temps over the last week or so I had been there, anything off-piste was turning rotten and the snowpack was very punchy. I should have stuck to the main route as this had more skier traffic and therefore the snowpack was more dense and not as punchy. Took me a while to get out of here without going ass over teakettle in the scree.
