I recently heard that Lech and Warth in Austria will now be linked by a gondola, and construction will begin in the summer of 2013. 280 km of pistes in Lech joined by 68 km in Warth. A pretty significant increase. When I visited in 2008 I saw on the Ski Arlberg ski map a potential ski lift between Lech and Warth was planned but I didn't think it would take six years to actually get moving. Great news as far as I am concerned considering both Lech and Warth are some of the most snow sure ski areas in Austria, and if my 2008 trip is any indication the area regularly gets pummeled by snow. Now if only they could figure out a way to hook up St. Anton and Lech via gondola, that would be fantastic.
