I was riding past the mighty Kaiser yesterday and there is still a lot of snow but only in larger patches. If you wanted to ski, you would have to take off your skis a lot so not worth it. I suppose Teton Pass is still ok. The Kaiser sleeps for the off season. Take a look at the webcams section of the blog and you'll see most of the snow down at the bottom is kaput.
Depending on your take on him, its either a sad or a happy day in Jackson. My friend Alex von Salad has sold his pizza place and is moving to California (I think). What he has planned there is beyond me. However, we did have a great time Wednesday night partying and drinking good German beer. Sorry to see him go but I'm sure I'll hear from him soon once he gets his scene together in California. Adios, amigo.
Sleepy time at the Kaiser today. Not many skiers out except the odd racer. Snooze-a-rama. Shopping for new boots as both my AT and alpine boots are pooping the bed. Actually demoing a pair of Garmont Radium boots: pretty comfortable, fairly stiff, but a huge shell size (325 compared to my AT boots 305 and my Alpine boots 312s). Don't think I would buy these; I think the Endorphins would be a better choice: little stiffer, replaceable soles, and interchangable soles. Maybe I can get them on pro form. We'll see.
What is so important that I am counting down the days? Well, it sure as shit ain't Valentine's Day. I am more concerned about the date because this is the first day on Snow King that you can ride the summit chair and be in the sun all the way up if you time it right. Yay sun!!
