Looking out the window of my hotel room towards the southeast. My hotel was in a lower rent district of St. Moritz but still plenty clean and tidy.
Looking towards the ritzy part of town. A lot of brown in evidence. Pretty bad snow year.
The view from my hotel room looking due east. Nice views of the lake.
Looking out the window from my single room in St. Moritz. Not a horrible view.
There were some amazing homes in St. Moritz. I thought this was stunning.
Street in St. Moritz Bad. Certainly not as picturesque as St. Moritz Dorf (the ritzy part of town).
View of St. Moritz Lake from eastern side, looking towards St. Moritz Dorf.
Part of the wonderful trail network around the town and the lake.
Looking across St. Moritz Lake towards the northeast. Not a very big lake; I walked completely around in about an hour. Very nice well maintained paths all around the lake. Several functions are held on the lake during the winter, including a cross country marathon ski race and, most famously, winter polo and horse races. I think you can see the faint outline of the race oval in the ice.
Not sure what this is: pumphouse, office, church? I don't know but I think it was something associated with the town water supply.
Looking south towards hotel. The town was great for walking. The castle looking building on the right was actually part of a museum.
Unbelievable craftmanship on this bus stop. Makes ours look like shit.
The main lake at St. Moritz. Still mostly frozen, but when I left some five days later it was largely ice free.
This was a gorgeous place. I think it must have been apartments. Fantastic view of the lake and town.
Examples of some of the really nice homes in St. Moritz. At least, I think they were private homes. They could have been hotels for all I know.
I don't know how the marketing people made this up but what a shot. Downtown St. Moritz.
Easter sunday. You could swing a dead cat and not hit anyone.
Fantastic scenery from downtown St. Moritz, looking south.
Detail of the Palace Hotel. Great details on the side.
Front of the Badrutts Palace hotel (I think.) Very impressive place.
Simple transportation for "just folks" staying at Badrutt's.
Amazing decorations on side of this building, and the roof beams.
Quiet town street in St. Moritz Dorf. The cog railway to the ski area is in the far distance.
Bell tower to an old ruined church. Main building was gone but this leaning, and I mean leaning, tower still stood. The edge of the top stuck out probably three feet out past the base. Incredible that it is still standing.
Looking at Piz Mezdi, Cuolm d'Mez, and Piz Rosatsch with the bell tower on the left.
Babbling brook above St. Moritz next to hiking trail.
Part of the wonderful hiking paths in above St. Moritz; very well maintained.
Part of the towns of St. Moritz Dorf and Bad and the lake with mountains in back. Purdy.
Looking at Piz Mezdi (tallest peak) from above St. Moritz Dorf.
Looking west to Pontresina (hidden behind the hills) and (from left to right) Las Sours, Piz Muragl, Piz Languard, and Piz Albris.
Same grouping of mountains but you can just make out the liftline and ski runs on the upper right which are above Pontresina.
