Standing just outside the top station of the Galzig gondola looking at the Valluga I tram and the Schindler Spitze on the right.
Looking east back down toward St. Anton and the Galzig gondola. Just past the roller is a very deep and steep ravine that is a classic avalanche terrain trap.
Part of the Osthang Einfahrt ski run. Nice and wide (almost 100 meters) and about 25 degrees; a classic blue run (at St. Anton, blue runs are the easiest, red the medium, black the hardest.
Standing on the Osthang ski route (one of the several ungroomed ski routes of St. Anton) looking towards the Stuben ski area with Albonagrat mountain looming over it.
Looking south towards the Rendl ski area with Rendl Talabfahrt ski run. A nice, long, swooping red run that was an absolute gas in the spring corn. Not very wide (perhaps 50 meters at most, averaged 25 meters) or steep (perhaps 30 degrees at most).
Another stitch photo with the St. Christoph ski lift. Virtually everything you see is open to skiing, from the slope in the foreground to the large open areas across the valley on the left.
Tanzboden ski run with Zammermoos chair and the Tanzboden drag lift in the background. The Schindler Kar ski route is in the far background to the right of the pointy peak, the Schindler Spitze.
Standing at the bottom tram dock of the Valluga II tram. Very small tram with room for 4 people max.
Stitch photo from top of Valluga; Schindler Spitze is on left in foreground.
Looking down the valley at Zurs and Lech. A guide would be very advisable to ski this route.
Standing on top of Valluga at 2811 meters. This is one of the main ski routes down. This is a north face and the right edge is a rather large cliff so don't screw up. Not horribly steep, perhaps 40 degrees.
Looking towards the northeast from top of Valluga. Not sure if this is an actual ski route but probably could ski it if you arranged for a pickup. Long way to travel back to St. Anton, considering it is close to seven miles to the closest town of Steeg at the end of this valley.
Another view of this ski route. It ends near Zurs so you need a taxi back to St. Anton. I should have done it this day because this was one of the few really nice days.
The tiny Valluga II tram (or tramette). Perhaps 1.5 meters wide by two meters long.
Standing just outside the top station of the Valluga I tram looking northeast down the Vallugagrat run. This is the only non-ski route down off the Valluga I tram and ends at a poma tow lift. Not the best if you want to make lots of laps on it. Meant that I skied this particular piste once; nice and wide, not many folks skiing it because of the pain-in-the-ass factor of getting to it.
Looking back up to the top station of the Valluga I tram from the Vallugagrat piste. Lovely powder off the sides.
Standing on the Vallugagrat piste looking down the valley towards Steeg at the end of this northeastern valley. The Valluga poma drag lift is just downhill.
Top of the Mattunjoch ski route. Very nice on the right side with some fresh powder. Not sure why everyone going on the left, considering it was mashed potatoes. Reasonably steep, perhaps 35-40 degrees.
Stitch photos of Mattunjoch ski route. Looking south across St. Anton valley towards Rendl ski area.
Looking down the Mattunjoch ski route. In the middle distance is a small hut that made for a nice stop. The hidden bergschrunds lying just under the new snow made for a nice deathtrap. On this run I had my right leg punch through and fall into one. Not fun.
Looking back up the Mattunjoch ski route. Just below the hut you can make out several large bergschrunds. I came down the ridge line on the left to play it safe. Many of the bergschrunds were probably 1.5-2.5 meters deep and one meter across.
Standing on the Mattunjoch ski route looking southwest towards top of Galzig area.
Another view of the Mattunjoch ski route. Absolutely huge. The hut is right about in the middle of the photo.
Stitch photo from top of the Kapall ski lift, looking mostly southwest. Mattunjoch ski route on right, Galzig area in middle.
Standing at the top of the Kapall chair looking at the Schongraben drag lift (that german for "nutcrusher").
Standing on the Gstans piste looking at the bottom of the Schongraben drag lift. Looking east down the St. Anton valley.
Looking up the Stallmahder-Fang piste. Nice run; quite wide at around 100 meters; medium steepness of approximately 30-35 degrees. Pretty darn slushy with wet spring snow.
